Founded in 1989, at St Albans RFC in Smallford (from whence the Saints retain their soubriquet), but joining OAs in 2003, the Saints have been a mainstay in the upper echelons of the Womens' game. Having had multiple stints in the Premiership in the sport's amateur days (in 1997 and again in 2010 - 2012), the team have established a firm grip in Championship 1, the highest level of the amateur game. Regulars in the annual Championship play-offs, Saints 1XV will be looking to go one further in the 2024/25 season and clinch the Championship title.
Having re-launched their 2XV in 2019 and welcoming for the first time in the club's history a 3XV, the Saints to continue to go from strength to strength, bolstered by a thriving Junior Girls section.
Saints are lead by Head Coach, former Red Rose Sarah Mckenna, who was a member of the Saints 2010 Premiership team. Sarah is supported by an array of dedicated coaches, including Melissa Lancaster, Niamh McHugh and Henry Walker.
Saints 1XV train on Mondays and Wednesdays at Woollams. Sessions are fully integrated with 2XV, and with opportunities to dual-register with Premiership partners, Saracens, Saints 1XV play a key pathway role for women and girls in the South-East.
